The Trend to Shorter-Term Volunteering: Preliminary Report from the MN Association for Volunteer Administration
Volunteers having shorter time availability was the most commonly cited trend in MAVA’s 2013 and 2014 “Status of Volunteer Programs in a Shifting Environment” surveys. Because of this, MAVA conducted an initiative to learn more about this trend and how organizations are responding. 32 leaders of volunteer programs met in March 2014 for a facilitated World Café style discussion to explore what is perplexing and exciting about this trend and strategies for success in responding to the trend. Notes from the session were analyzed for the common themes and suggestions included in this report.
