MAVA’s 4th Strengthening Service Breakfast
On October 15th at Mt Zion Temple in St. Paul at 7:45 am, MAVA members and guests will gather for the 4th time for our fundraising breakfast. MAVA would not be MAVA without you; this is a chance to highlight each MAVA member organization. We will showcase how MAVA has helped each MAVA member to inspire action through volunteerism. This year the emcee at the fundraising breakfast is Chicago-based MAVA Member Kristina Wilkes. Kristina and so many other out of State MAVA Members remind us how lucky we are to have MAVA right here at home. Along with Kristina’s great ability to highlight MAVA’s successes, our friends from Be the Match, Crisis Nursery and Animal Humane Society will help each of us to have pride in belonging to this one of a kind organization.
There is no other organization like MAVA in the entire Country. Our success has been due to the generosity of donors who make multi-year gifts that keep MAVA sustainable. You pay membership fees, so why does MAVA ask you to come to its fundraiser? Firstly, individual donations allow us to maintain low membership fees. The individual MAVA Membership fee is $75. By comparison, the average individual membership fee for professional associations is upwards of $500. Also, the individual donations we receive from MAVA members and others allow us to subsidize MAVA member fees at all trainings (MAVA members pay 40% less than others for all trainings and the conference). We are able to offer MAVA Connections, MAVA Mixers, Better Together Sessions and many Webinars for no cost to MAVA Members. For Members only, we provide information sharing through the MAVA Monthly and the Members Only Section of the Website. Our groundbreaking research on job equity, trends in volunteerism, diversity and inclusion, paying volunteers, short term volunteerism and so many other subjects are available to members free of charge. Service Enterprise and VISTA cohorts are special programs available to MAVA member organizations and others; most who participate are MAVA members.
