Do Better Together: Minnesota's Refugee Population

Join MAVA for the first event in our 2021 series called "Do Better Together" where we will facilitate conversations around important topics on racial equity in volunteerism.

This free webinar will allow volunteer engagement leaders to learn more about the refugee experience in Minnesota. A representative from The International Institute of Minnesota will offer a Refugee 101 presentation, which will describe the experiences of Minnesota’s refugee population, including their journey before and after arriving to the US, their geographic origins and the impacts of US federal policy. Additionally, we will discuss the contributions made by refugee populations throughout Minnesota and how our community can help serve the new refugee population.

MAVA will follow up the presentation with small-group discussions about the Minnesota refugee experience and how nonprofit organizations and volunteer engagement leaders can engage with and support refugees in our communities.
