ADMINISTRATORS OF HEALTHCARE VOLUNTEERS

Whether you’re new to healthcare volunteer administration or a seasoned professional, you’ll find it valuable to join a network of colleagues in hospitals, clinics, long-term care and other healthcare facilities.

Healthcare can present unique challenges in working legally, safely, and effectively with volunteers:

  • Regulatory and certification requirements (JCAHO, HIPPA, HCFA, etc.)
  • Infection control issues
  • Emergency preparedness
  • Special healthcare volunteer roles

Members learn together and share expertise:

  • 3 lunch/education meetings each year, tailored to volunteer management issues in a healthcare facility
  • Annual retreat
  • Network news column in MAVA newsletter
  • Informal networking opportunities

“Before I make a presentation to my Administrator about a new program or respond to a request for new services, I check what’s being done in similar facilities through my AHV network of friends and colleagues.”

Judy Takkunen
Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis

“MAVA and AHV create the perfect package for me— all kinds of general volunteer administration topics and programming specific to the healthcare environment where I work.”

Janice Kissner
Regions Hospital, St. Paul
