MAVA is the only multi-sector, statewide professional association of volunteer administrators in Minnesota. Our Public Affairs efforts are key to cultivating, maintaining, and building the capacity for a thriving and effective Minnesota volunteer community.

The foundation has been laid for a respected, energetic voice for volunteerism in Minnesota. The MAVA Board has approved a Policy on Taking Public Positions, including a process for rapid-response to emerging volunteer-related issues. In addition, the MAVA Public Affairs Committee has gathered information from MAVA's Membership, studied issues confronting the field of volunteerism and volunteer resources management, consulted with key community leaders and proposed MAVA's first Public Affairs Platform.

MAVA's Strategic Plan for 2005-2007 calls for MAVA to act upon the Public Affairs Platform; cultivate and maintain relationships with key policymakers, organizations and the public; and, engage and educate MAVA's Membership regarding public affairs issues and priorities.
