Winner of the 2004 MAVA
Award for Excellence in Volunteer Leadership
Lois Norby was named
the recipient of the 2004 MAVA Award for Excellence in Volunteer
Leadership.
As former president
of the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Partners in Education (NAPE),
Norby is a familiar name within the education community.She helped
establish many of the volunteer programs in Minnetonka during her
14 years working at Minnetonka Community Education and Services.
Retired in 1998, Norby
continues her work as a member of the Minnetonka Community Education
and Services Advisor and chaired the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s
Annual Orchid Lights fundraising event in 2003.

Norby’s nominator, says, “Lois Norby, through her actions and her
leadership, truly exemplifies the ideals of selfless contribution
to the community.”
The MAVA Award recognizes
an individual who has made superior contribution in furthering professional
volunteerism in Minnesota. Norby received the award at the Minnesota
Conference on Volunteerism held in Brainerd in May 2004.
