JEANNE NORDSTROM
Winner of the 2004 MAVA Mary Wiser Award for Excellence in Volunteer Administration

The Community Action Council's (CAC) Director of Volunteerism, Jeanne Nordstrom, was named winner of the 2004 Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA) Mary Wiser Award for Excellence. Nominated by peers in the field of volunteer administration, Nordstrom is credited with tripling the number of volunteers and increasing volunteer hours by 139% at the Community Action Council since 2002.

In 2003, Nordstrom oversaw CAC’s neighborhood services that assisted
over 5,000 individuals, while food shelf use was up 46% from 2002. The CAC’s Violence Prevention and Intervention and Family/Community Support Services have expanded because of Nordstrom’s efforts to provide volunteer opportunities for all ages.

Margaret Reindl, one of Nordstrom’s endorsers said, “Jeanne has great imagination and insight and is able to continually meet the ever changing needs of our community. Jeanne is able to show our volunteers just how valuable their time and talents are.”

The MAVA Mary Wiser Award recognizes a professional in the field of volunteer administration who demonstrates vision, diligence and commitment to service. Nordstrom received the award at the Minnesota Conference on Volunteerism held in Brainerd in May 2004.
