Building strong communities is the responsibility of volunteers and staff working in concert and with mutual respect for the value and contribution of each and every person. We will:

  • Be accountable and responsive to our stakeholders.
  • Be efficient, effective, and innovative in our operations.
  • Be accepting and inclusive of the strengths, skills, and perspective of the multitude of individuals and cultures.
  • Be advocates for the rights and responsibility of volunteer service in a democratic society.
  • Initiate and actively promote the ongoing development of the body of knowledge that underlies the professional management of volunteers and apply that body of knowledge to our professional practice.
  • Be attentive and responsive to the changing needs of the profession, the community, and the fields or practice. Challenge the status quo and apply innovative thinking by continuously embracing and implementing change.
