Metro Area
Volunteers in Schools (MAVIS)
Metro Area Volunteers in Schools (MAVIS) is a professional
network of individuals who work with volunteer management in schools, both
public and private. Our purpose is to provide an opportunity for those
professionals to meet, share ideas and network. MAVIS meets most months during
the school year from 9:00am – 10:30am at the Eisenhower Community Center, 1011
Highway 7, Hopkins, MN 55305.
Format for MAVIS meetings is somewhat informal. Topics for
discussion are decided at the October meeting. Members of MAVA provide the
leadership for the meetings. Veteran members may choose to present on a current
volunteer management topic while those newer to the field may choose to lead a
discussion on a recently published article (e.g., Energize). An assigned
facilitator leads the group discussion or presentation from 9:00am – 10:00 am
followed by informal networking until 10:30am.
