PARTNERING WITH MAVA

Through MAVA Memberships, Networks, Collaborations and Partnerships
Since its creation, MAVA has sought to form alliances with existing networks of volunteer administrators across Minnesota to foster dialogue, ensure effective use of community assets and reduce duplication of effort. Partnering with MAVA creates a stronger voice for volunteerism in the state and enhances benefits to network members. Networks and organizations have a choice of many ways to form an alliance with MAVA, ranging from full membership to more informal, flexible affiliations.

Categories of MAVA alliances:
  • MAVA Network – Full membership for the entire network and all its members
  • Supporting Geographic Network – Introductory limited network membership for Greater Minnesota networks
  • Supporting Organizational Membership – An organizational membership that provides structured organizations that share our values an opportunity to support the vision and work of MAVA, participate in its activities and be part of the common voice that supports our mission
  • MAVA Collaboration – A formal agreement that strengthens cross-disciplinary respect and sharing and assures professional leadership development
  • MAVA Partnership – An informal flexible relationship that fosters working together around shared values
MAVA is eager to continue to form new relationships with existing networks and organizations across Minnesota. To learn more about how your association can become part of the MAVA alliance, email Office@mavanetwork.org or call 651-255-0469.
MAVA NETWORK

A MAVA Network is a high level of membership, in which all members of the network become MAVA members and enjoy full member benefits.
Members of a MAVA network enjoy the advantage of networking with members of the network along with the benefits MAVA has to offer.

Current MAVA Networks include:

SUPPORTING GEOGRAPHIC NETWORK
A Supporting Geographic Network is a limited group membership available to Greater Minnesota networks. This time-limited membership level provides a means to introduce the work of MAVA to the network and to build a relationship that fosters a long-term relationship between the network and MAVA.

Benefits to the network:
  • Exchange of information between MAVA and the network
  • Annual collaboration on a local training including a menu of MAVA Traveling Trainer topics
  • MAVA Monthly newsletter for members of the network
  • Invitation to all MAVA events at the non-member rate
  • Participate in the MAVA common voice
  • Consultation on network planning and development

In this model one person of the local network will be designated as a liaison to MAVA. MAVA will provide consultation, leadership training and support to the liaision. The network itself has no MAVA voting rights. Members of the network are encouraged to join MAVA at the individual member rate to enjoy full MAVA benefits.
SUPPORTING ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIP
The Supporting Organizational Membership allows a structured organization that shares MAVA's values to support the work and vision of MAVA, to participate in its activities and to become a part of the common voice. This category of membership is for organizations involved in volunteerism, but whose individual members may not consider themselves professionals in volunteer administration.

Benefits to the supporting organization include:

Fee Structure
  • Fee based on operating budget or organizational size

MAVA COLLABORATION
A MAVA Collaboration is a formal agreement between MAVA and an existing organization, for the purpose of working on a specific project or goal. It does not include MAVA membership.
MAVA PARTNERSHIP
A MAVA Partnership is the most informal, flexible relationship. A Partnership recognizes the benefits of keeping lines of communication open between groups that share MAVA’s goals and values.

Current MAVA Partnerships include:
